Frequently Asked Questions: Technologists

What is a technologist?

A technologist is a person specially trained to operate the diagnostic imaging equipment and to position patients to achieve the clearest images possible. While technologists are not medical doctors, they do work closely with radiologists in reviewing patient histories, presenting histories and preliminary films to the radiologist, and making sure all patients are as comfortable as possible

Do technologists have special credentials?

Yes. CMI employs only registered technologists who specialize in a particular area (or modality) such as MRI, mammography, or CT.
